Adventure?

I can officially say the new year has started off with a bang.  Literally.  A very loud bang.  It all started on Friday evening, at 6pm, while we were sitting on the couch, immersed in an episode of Lost, quietly minding our own business, when we heard a loud bang.  Now we live on the backside of a house in the basement, so we figured the noise was from upstairs, them having children and all.  Five minutes later there is a knock at our door and our landlady is telling us that our car was just smashed by a van that took off.  We flew out the door to see the damage and were horrified to see our car sitting 90 degrees from where we parked it with the front quarter smashed in and the axel bent.

Shane took off down the road to the park where they say the guy headed and my landlady called the police.  They had been looking for him, our was at least the third car he hit.  The cops showed up shortly thereafter and we headed down to see where he was.  He had driven over a sign, through a fence and up a hill and was facing the road once again, when his van finally stopped.  The police told us later they think he was in a diabetic shock, but I'm not so sure, and I guess I'll never know.
The tow truck came to take our car away and I made brownies to calm my frayed nerves.  The next morning we got our rental car (nicest car I've ever driven, it having power window, air conditioning and power locks, not to mention a remote starter and cruise control), an Impala, which makes me feel like I'm driving a boat, it's a big car.  Our first appointment with ICBC is on the 15th, (a very long time away) to see if our car will be written off or not.  It's a huge pain in the ass, but I suppose it's one of those things in life, and I did make a resolution to have more adventures this year.  I think I need to define adventures.
